Lincoln N.H. - This weekend the Boston College ski team competed in the Brown University/University of Connecticut Carnival held at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, N.H. Again, the Eagles faired well in overall competition. The men's team finished third out of ten teams in both the slalom and giant slalom reaces while the women's team took first place honors in the slalom on Saturday and second place in Sunday's giant slalom.
Boston College junior Christina Gush (Green Mountain Valley School) finished second in the slalom race on Saturday. Gush has secured a second place finish in all three slalom races so far this year. She did not race in the giant slalom at Loon Mountain this past Sunday, but her overall record in the giant slalom is equally as impressive. She placed second in the giant slalom at the UMass-Amherst Carnival (Berkshire East) and first at the Plymouth State College Carnival. Sophomore teammate Lori Williams, continuing her strong performance for the Eagles, claimed second place in the giant slalom. Other top ten finishes for the women's team were a 6th place finish in the giant slalom by freshman Erica Pylman and a fifth place finish in the slalom by freshman Jennifer Runco.
On the men's team, freshman Seth Therrien (Stratton Mountain School) continued his stellar performance. Therrien took second place in the slalom and third in the giant slalom at the Brown/UConn Carnival. Junior Michael Duran place eighth in the slalom at Loon Mountain to round off BC's top ten finishes this weekend.
Next up on the schedule for the Eagles is the Boston College Carnvial, an event which Boston College will be hosting. The carnival will be held at Ascutney Mountain in Brownsville, VT on February 10th and 11th. The races will begin at 9:30 a.m. on both days.
