
Women's Tennis Doubles Up The Victories

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- The Boston College women's tennis team picked up two victories this weekend over Temple Friday, Feb. 23, 6-1 and Harvard Saturday, Feb. 24, 4-3.
The Eagles rolled over Temple losing only one singles match and one doubles match Friday evening. Senior Kiren Fernando, junior Ruta Veitas, sophomores Anisha Fernando, Jessica Engel and freshman Emily Hellberg all earned points for their wins in singles matches. Senior Cynthia Tow was the only Eagle not to win her singles match, but she and partner K. Fernando won their doubles match along with A.Fernando/Hellberg to secure the doubles point.
The Eagles fell in all three doubles matches, but bounced back to take the decision at Harvard's Murr Center Saturday afternoon. Tow, the Fernando sisters and Veitas won their singles matches to capture four points and a victory for the Eagles who beat a strong Harvard team for the first time in recent memory.
The women's tennis team will next see action on Saturday, March 3, when Rutgers comes to Chestnut Hill at 10:00 a.m. The women's tennis team has improved to 4-3 in dual matches and 2-1 in BIG EAST play.
