
Women's Ice Hockey Beats Bowdoin

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's ice hockey team defeated Bowdoin, 4-2, tonight, in a non-league contest at Kelley Rink, in Conte Forum, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Scoring one goal and assisting on two others, were Kaitlin McGrath and Jaclyn Kryzak.
Coming out strong, Boston College (6-24-0, 1-21-0) dominated the first period but was unable to tally any goals. Heading into the first intermission the Eagles had 16 shots on goal and Bowdoin (16-4-3, 12-3-3) goalkeeper Emily McKissock stopped all shots. Eagle goalkeeper Amy Coletta saved all six of the Bear's shots on goal.
At 7:02 of the second period, the Eagles opened up the scoring when McGrath scored on a break away. Assisting on the goal were Kryzak and Sarah McGarrell. Less than three minutes later, Bowdoin tied the score at 1-1. Shelly Chessie scored from a Ba Lanoue pass. The Eagle's would soon reclaim the lead when Kryzak netted a shot at 11:13. McGrath assisted on the goal. Extending the Boston College lead, Kelly McManus scored from outside the crease. Assisting on what would prove to be the game-winning goal was Renee Taylor. In the second period, Boston College out shot Bowdoin 12-8.
Scoring again from just outside the crease, Boston College's Alexis Moed scored at 6:51 of the third period. Collecting the assist on the Eagle's fourth goal were Kryzak and McGrath. Scoring an unassisted goal for Bowdoin, Jen Pelkey sent the puck into the back of the net at 12:04. In the third period Bowdoin out shot the Eagles 10-9.
In goal for the Eagles, Coletta stopped 22 in 60 minutes of play. For Bowdoin, McKissock saved 33 in 60 minutes.
The next game for the Boston College women's ice hockey team will be on Sat., Feb. 3, when the Eagles face Northeastern in a home match-up at Kelley Rink at Conte Forum. The puck will drop at 2 p.m.
