Peakes Participates At Fencing Junior Olympic Championship

Salt Lake City, Utah - On December 3, 2000, Kate Boyle, Paul Taylor, Dave Moyston and Jessica Peakes qualified to compete in the Under-20 Junior Olympic Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. This event, which was held yesterday, is the national fencing championship for the uner-17 and under-20 age groups. Out of the four Boston College fencers invited to the event, freshman Jessica Peakes made the trip to Salt Lake City.
Peakes, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, competed in the Junior Women's Sabre event of the Championships. As a member of the New England team, Peakes was one of 76 competitors, of which the top 32 finishers are awarded points. Jessica finished in 42nd place out of the field of 76 in the Junior Women's Sabre event. She placed third out the five junior sabre competitors from the New England area.
