Women's Soccer Inks Five To National Letters Of Intent

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Head women's soccer coach Alison Foley has announced that five players have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Boston College in the fall of 2001 and join the BC soccer program. Laina Ceddia, Erin Docherty, Lindsay Fairweather, Kristin Goddard and Danielle Servedio signed letters during the winter signing period and will enroll at Boston College next August. The class includes three members of the Olympic Development Program's Region I team and two Massachusetts state players of the year.
Ceddia, a midfielder/forward from Belmont, Mass., was named the 2000 NSCAA/adidas Massachusetts High School Player of the Year and is a two-time NSCAA high school All-American and all-New England choice. This season, the Boston Globe named her the All-Scholastic Player of the Year for Div. 2. Belmont High School's all-time leading scorer, Ceddia was a Middlesex League all-star and an Eastern Massachusetts all-state choice. She is also a member of the Boston Bolts Soccer Club team that reached the regional semifinals.
Docherty, a midfielder/defender from Allentown, Pa., was an NSCAA/adidas All-East selection in 2000. Among her personal accolades are first team all-league, all-area and all-state honors. Docherty is a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Olympic Development Program state team and also plays for the ODP Region I team. This fall, she attended the Youth Soccer Association national camp. Her club team is the Council Rock Soccer Club.
Fairweather, a midfielder/forward from Kingston, Mass., set Silver Lake Regional's scoring record and was named an Old Colony League All-Star in 2000. She is a member of the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program's state team and also plays with the Region I ODP entry. Her club team, the Charles River United Sparks, was a regional semifinalist.
Goddard, a midfielder/forward from Northboro, Mass., was named the most valuable player in Eastern Massachusetts in 2000. A 2000 NSCAA/adidas all-New England choice, she was a four-time Central Catholic League all-star and led the league in scoring in each of her four seasons at Marin High School. Goddard was selected as the Boston Globe's All-Scholastic Player of the Year in Div. 3 and she is a member of the Massachusetts' state Olympic Development team. She is also a member of the Charles River United Sparks.
Servedio, a midfielder from South Huntington, N.Y., was a 2000 All-Nassau County team selection. She also received all-state honors this season. A former member of the Olympic Development Program's national player pool, she is currently a member of the Region I team. Her local ODP team is the Eastern New York state team. The HBC Magic, her club team, were regional finalists. Servedio attended Walt Whitman High School, the alma mater of former Eagle keeper Courtney Schaeffer '01.
The Boston College women's soccer team finished the season with a 14-7 record after advancing to the semifinals of the BIG EAST tournament before bowing to top-ranked Notre Dame.
