CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - For sophomore midfielder Sarah Rahko (Londonderry, N.H.), she has already been named a member of the all-BIG EAST, New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association and the National Soccer Coaches Association of American/adidas (NSCAA) first teams. To go along with all these honors, she was named the BIG EAST Conference Midfielder of the Year. Rahko capped off an incredible 2001 season by being named third-team All-America by NSCAA/adidas.
Over the last two seasons, Rahko has put together some incredible totals. In 2001 alone, she scored nine goals, dished out eight assists and had 60 shots. Now that the 2001 season is in the books, she has scored 18 goals and added 21 assists for a total of 53 points.
Rahko was one of five players from the BIG EAST to be named to one of the three teams. University of Connecticut defender Casey Zimny and West Virginia University forward Katie Barnes were named to the first team. Connecticut midfielder Alexis Borisjuk earned second-team honors, and Rutgers freshman phenom Carli Lloyd joined Rahko on the third team.
The Eagles will return 13 players from the 2001 season, and head coach Alison Foley is already assembling an incredible recruiting class.
