Droesch Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

Providence, RI - Boston College freshman guard Clare Droesch (Belle Harbor, NY) was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Sunday morning after her solid effort over the last week. She is the first Eagle to win a weekly BIG EAST honor this season. The honor is her first selection a well.
Droesch helped the Eagles to a win in their only appearance of the week, a 72-59 victory over Northeastern Saturday afternoon. She came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting, that included two three-pointers. In addition, she dished out a career-high eight assists and had five rebounds in 29 minutes of play.
Droesch is one of four players who are averaging double digit points for BC. She is the team's third leading scorer with 11.3 points per game and pulls in 5.0 rebounds per outing. She has played all nine games for the Eagles and averages just under 30 minutes per game.
The Eagles travel to Miami after the Christmas break for the Sun & Fun Classic at Florida International. The two-game, four-team tournament features Florida International vs. Ball State at 1 pm and Boston College vs. Alabama-Birmingham at 3 pm on December 28. On December 29, the consolation will be at 2 pm with the championship to be decided at 4 pm.
