Fencing Competes At Fall Invitational

Northampton, MASS. - Boston College placed eight fencers into the finals at the annual Fall Invitational at Smith College on Sunday. An outstanding performance by the men's foil squad had sophomore Paul Taylor placing 2nd overall. Taylor, in a bout against rival James McBean of Brandeis University, qualified for the gold medal bout fighting back from a 2-8 deficit to win the match 15-14. In other men's action, freshman Matt Sztuk placing 5th and freshman Will Lawrie placing 6th. Senior Steve Sztuk placed 8th in men's sabre.
On the women's side, sophomore Jessica Peakes pulled in at 3rd place and senior Cecilia Boudreau placed 8th in women's sabre. Sophomore Kate Boyle placed 3rd in women's epee and freshman Vanessa Eulo placed 5th in women's foil.
The Eagles will compete next at Tufts University on November 17. Present at the meet will be Tufts, Wellesley, Johns Hopkins and Army.
