CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College's Randy Thomas, who is in his eighth season as the program director of the cross country and track and field teams, was named the women's cross country National Coach of the Year on Saturday night by the United States Track Association. Thomas led the Eagles to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championship this year along with the NCAA District I Championship and a second-place showing at the BIG EAST Championship.
Thomas has been a part of Boston College program for 14 years. Thomas' past successes speak for them selves as he has guided Eagle athletes to 27 All-America awards during the past four years. In addition, the women's cross-country squad has now competed in six NCAA Championships, including five of the past seven seasons. In the other two seasons, Thomas trained athletes who qualified on an individual basis.
