Glenn Allen, VA - Boston College senior defender Amelie Wulff (Dusseldorf, Germany) and junior forward Kim French (Shrewsbury, MA) earned a spot on the 2001 STX/NFHCA Division I Regional All-America squad as announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Wulff was a first team selection while French was a second team choice on the Northeast Region team.
The NFHCA selects two teams of 16 members each from five regions in the country. Players represent the Midatlantic Region, the Mideast Region, the Northeast Region, the South Region, and the West Region. All those players selected to the first team will be eligible for national All-America honors. The 2001 STX/NFHCA All-America team will be announced Monday, November 19.
Wulff was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year after a season that included seven goals and four assists for 18 points. Last season, Wulff earned a spot on the NFHCA Northeast Regional All-America second team. For French, this is the first such honor. She finished the season as the team's leading scorer with 12 goals and an assist for 25 points. For her efforts, she joined Wulff as a first team All-BIG EAST selection.
The Eagles finished the season at 11-8 overall and 4-1 in the BIG EAST.
