Women's Basketball Opens Season With Exhibition Saturday

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - The Boston College women's basketball team will begin its 2001-02 season with an exhibition contest against the Houston Jaguars Saturday afternoon.
The Jaguars are a collection of former collegiate stars, including Erin Buescher of UC-Santa Barbara and the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx. Buescher averaged 5.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game and finished ranked 16th in the WNBA in blocks per game (0.91).
Other Jaguar standouts are Tora Suber (Virginia '97), who garnered All-ACC honors for the Cavaliers in 1996 and 1997, and Katrina Colleton (Maryland '93), who saw action in 14 games for the WNBA's Miami Sol in 2001. The Jaguars also face Rutgers, Connecticut, Providence, Seton Hall and Villanova of the BIG EAST this month. They will also face Virginia and Maryland of the ACC.
Boston College will open the 2001-02 regular season on November 16 with a game at Fairfield. The team will return to Conte Forum for its first home game on November 20 against Arkansas of the SEC.
