BOSTON, MA - The Boston College field hockey team dropped a 3-1 contest to #16 James Madison Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match-up at Wentworth Institute's Sweeney Field in Boston. With the loss, Boston College falls to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the BIG EAST. The Dukes improve to 7-4 overall/2-0 CAA.
Junior back Kim Desto (Holden, MA) netted her team's lone goal on the afternoon, putting the hosts up 1-0 at the 21:27 mark on a nice penalty corner option that was assisted by senior back Amelie Wulff (Dusseldorf, Germany). The Eagles, however, couldn't get anything more.
James Madison tied the score at one behind a Janelle Perlis breakaway goal. The Dukes then took a 2-1 lead at the 7:18 mark of the first half on what would turn out to be the game winner from an Elize van Ballagooie penalty stroke. Carrie Phillips connected on a Ryan Shean pass for the insurance goal.
The Eagles return to action Wednesday evening when they travel to Connecticut for a BIG EAST match-up.
