Women's Swimming And Diving Defeats Rider 183-103

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's swimming and diving team moved its overall record to 2-0 after defeating Rider University 183-103 on Friday evening at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
The Eagles took home first place in 14 of the 16 events on the schedule. Freshman Kathleen McCann took home first place in two events for Boston College. She finished first in the 50-yard freestyle, with a time of 25.29, and the 400-yard individual medley, with a time of 4:35.10.
Junior Nicole Duffy was the first individual to win for Boston College as she won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time 10:43.49. Sophomores Caitlin Healey outswam her four Boston College teammates in route to a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. Healey finished with a time of 1:57.80.
Senior Lauren Schwartz finished the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.21, which was good enough for first-place honors. Sophomore Lauren Keibler won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.68, which was just enough to defeat teammate senior Alexis Kostopoulos, who finished with a time of 1:09.53.
Other winners on the evening for Boston College were sophomore Katelyn Cox (1- and 3-meter diving), junior Caitlin Klick (100-yard freestyle), senior Brianne Sullivan (200-yard backstroke), freshman Jennifer Moquin (500-yard freestyle) and senior Lauren Ohtake (100-yard butterfly). The 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay teams took home first place with times of 1:51.82 and 3:53.95, respectively.
The women's swimming and diving team is back in action at 1 p.m. Sunday when it takes on Marist College at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
