Field Hockey Edges Yale, 3-2 in Overtime

Chestnut Hill, MA -- The Boston College field hockey team posted a 3-2 overtime win against Yale Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium on the campus of Boston College. The game was part of a field hockey doublheader. In the first game, the United States and South Africa played to scoreless tie in an exhibition game. With the victory, Boston College improved to 7-6 on the season and 2-1 in the BIG EAST. The Bulldogs fell to 5-6 overall/0-3 Ivy League.
Boston College connected on a penalty corner at 9:38 in the first half to open scoring. The penalty combination of Amelie Wulff (Dusseldorf, Germany), Virginia Drozd (Richmond, VA), and Kim Desto (Holden, MA) gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead at the half. The group, behind Wulff, would score once more to give BC a 2-0 lead. Yale would not be counted out, scoring twice by the stick of Jana Halfon to force the game into overtime. Freshman Kerri Kulesza (Spencer, MA) netted the game winner for Boston College at the 12:33 mark in the overtime period.
The Eagles return to action Wednesday when they travel to Harvard for a 3:30 p.m. game. They will return to Alumni Stadium on Monday, October 22.
