Several BC Wrestlers Compete At Sunshine Open

Miami, Fla. - While teammates Ricky Merritt and Mike Payack wrestled at the Wilkes Open in Wilkes Barre, PA, several Boston College wrestlers were in Miami, FL, participating in the Sunshine Open.
Among those BC wrestlers that were present at the event, co-captain Steve Pregiato went 0-2 at the hands of Pat Diaz (7-1) of James Madison and unattached Sean Peterson (3-2). Pete Tarricone was also defeated twice, being pinned both times. Dave DeAngelo was defeated by Ausburg's Vincent Depatto 19-2 and by Maryland's B. Robinovitz by a tally of 9-3. Senior Dan Degan defeated Rickman of James Madison 10-9, but subsequently was defeated by Nick Lazzo and Sean McIntosh.
The best Eagle performance at the Sunshine Open came from sophomore Brad Shemlock. Shemlock went 3-2 on the day. He was victorious against John Bohren (13-3), Dennis Tienken (5-2), and John Barlage (9-6), while being defeated by Nick Lewandowski (13-4) and Andrew Reynolds (14-1).
BC wrestling will compete next on January 6, 2001, at the Millersville Open. The Open will be held in Millersville, PA.
