Skiing Performs Well At UMass Carnival

Charlemont, Mass. - Boston College men's and women's skiing competed this weekend at the UMass Winter Carnival held at Berkshire East in Charlemont, Massachusetts. Every team from the Eastern Collegeiate Ski Conference was present at the event. The Eagles performed well in both the Slalom and Giant Slalom races. Overall, the BC men's team placed fourth out of 10 teams with 7 total team points. The women's team placed second out of 11 teams with an impressive 4 total team points.
In the Slalom races, Boston College men placed third with a total of 413.45. Captain John Valentine placed 10th with a total time of 1:21.76 while teammates Michael Duran and Eric Klein pulled in at 13th and 15th places, respectively. In Women's Slalom competition, Boston College pulled in at 2nd place with a total of 264.80. Captain Christina Gush took silver medal honors with a total time of 1:24.71 while Lori Williams took 5th place with a 1:29.16 total time.
Turning to the Giant Slalom competition, BC men placed 4th with a total of 430.58 led by Eric Klein. Klein placed 13th out of 79 with a total time of 1:24.93. David Giuletti performed well, too, placing 16th with a time of 1:25.25. The women's team continued their impressive performance this weekend by claiming second place with a total of 264.06. Gush, again, took second place honors, this time with a total time of 1:26.66. Lori Williams, Jennifer Runco and Erica Pylman placed 5th, 9th, and 10th, respectively, to round of BC's top 10 finishes in the Giant Slalom.
Following their strong finish, the team will compete next at the Plymouth State Carnival held at Waterville Valley, N.H. The dates of the meet are January 27th and 28th.
