Women's Swimming And Diving Defeats Boston University

CHESTNUT HILL Mass.- Boston College women's swimming and diving teams defeated Boston University today in at home meet in the Flynn Complex Pool on the Chestnut Hill campus. BC collected 187 points to BU's 112 to gain the victory.
Opening the meet with a win, the 200 medley relay of Nina Suryoutomo, Michelle Lane, Lauren Schwartz and Alexis Kostopoulos out touched BU by .60 of a second finishing with a time of 1:52.24.
In the first individual event of the evening, Caitlin Leahy won the 1000 freestyle. Following this performance, Leahy also won the 500 freestyle event later in the meet. In the 200 freestyle, Caitlin Klick won the first of two events with a time of 1:56.08. Later Klick would follow with a victory in the 100 freestyle event.
Taking first in the 100 backstroke, Brianne Sullivan finished with a time of 1:01.25, just .14 before BU's Kelli Sweeting. Following with a win in the next event, Lane finished with 1:09.38in the 100 breaststroke. With a time of 2:07.31, Lauren Keibler won the 200 butterfly. While Alexis Kostopoulos won the 50 freestyle sprint.
In the final event, Boston College collected their 10th victory of the night when the 400 freestyle relay of Lauren Ohtake, Joanne Paleo, Nicole Pierce and Klick took first place.
Boston College collected 10 first place finishes, while Boston University won only six. BU victories came in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, the 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley.
The Boston College women's swimming and diving team improves to 8-2 on the season and remain 0-1 in the BIG EAST, while Boston University falls to 1-6.
The next competition for the women's swimming diving team will take place on Fri., Jan. 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Flynn Complex Pool , in Chestnut Hill, Mass. against BIG EAST rival Georgetown and Maine.
