PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - Linda Miles scored 7 of her 19 points in overtime as No. 12 Rutgers defeated Boston College 75-66 on Saturday.
Rutgers (10-4, 3-1) saw a 9-point halftime lead disappear in the second half as Miles, better known for her defensive play and rebounding, showed her offensive skills against BC (7-8, 1-3). She hit 7 of 11 shots from the floor, mostly 15-foot jumpers, and was 5 of 6 from the foul line.
Rutgers was ahead 33-24 at the half and still led by 8 with 12 minutes to play in the second half, but point guard Tasha Pointer went to the bench with her fourth foul.
After that, the Scarlet Knights struggled on the offensive end, making three turnovers in two minutes as BC went on an 11-0 run to take its first lead of the game at 49-47.
There were three more ties before Rutgers went ahead 56-55 on a 3-pointer by freshman Mandakova Clark with 1:13 to play.
Miles hit two foul shots with 22 seconds left for a 58-55 lead, but Janelle McManus sent a 22-footer over Tammy Sutton-Brown to force the overtime with 7.3 seconds left.
Kourtney Walton, who had 16 points for the game, gave Rutgers the first score in overtime with a 15-foot jumper. McManus then tied the game for the last time. Clark hit a 12-footer for a 62-60 Rutgers lead that grew as Miles took over the offense.
McManus led BC with 23 points while Becky Gottstein had 20.
