Men's Tennis Competes in Northeast Intercollegiate Tournament

Boston College opened its men's tennis season under new coach Rob Miller, competing in the Northeast Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Brown University in Providence, RI. The tournament ran from September 22-24 and featured teams from across New England and the mid-atlantic states.
The Eagle contingent included eight competitors competing in singles and doubles competition. Junior Marc Lucero led the team finishing second in Flight C singles with a 3-1 record. Not far behind was sophomore Damon Vartabedian who placed third in Flight D singles with a 2-1 record. Seniors Jason Cowett and Chris Mercurio went 0-2 and 1-1 respectively. Eagles finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record are junior Colin Kennedy, freshmen Justin Slattery, and Brad Anderson. Freshman Ross Pytko recorded a 2-1 mark for the weekend.
In doubles competition, the teams of Kennedy and Mercurio, Slattery and Cowett, and Pytko and Vartabedian earned records of 1-1.
The Boston College men's tennis team will next compete at Boston University on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m.
