Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Head field hockey coach Sherren Granese has announced that sophomore forward Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.) will miss the entire 2000 field hockey season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee sustained in a preseason practice at Alumni Stadium in August.
"We are disappointed for Kim. She was going to be an integral part of our offense this season," Granese said. "The most important part for Kim now is to focus on her recovery."
French was a 1999 BIG EAST Conference All-Rookie selection after appearing in all 20 games, making 12 starts. She netted four goals and added an assist for nine points to lead the Eagles' first-year players in scoring. She was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on Sept. 6 after scoring her first career goal against Vermont, Sept. 3.
Boston College, currently 4-1 and ranked 14th in the nation, next faces Boston University on Wednesday Sept. 13, at 7:00 at Boston College's Alumni Stadium.
