Junior Amelie Wulff's successful penalty stroke with 24:35 remaining in the game proved to be the winner as the 14th-ranked Boston College field hockey team defeated #16 Boston University, 1-0, at Alumni Stadium. Goalkeeper Jill Dedman made five saves in the win for her third shutout of the season.
The Eagles allowed the Terriers only five shots on goal in the game, including one in the second half. Boston College also held the advantage in penalty corners, 8-2.
After a scoreless first half, Boston College came out with a strong offensive attack and forced the penalty stroke 10 minutes into the half. Wulff's score marked the second straight game that the Duesseldorf, Germany native netted a penalty stroke.
With the win, Boston College moved to 5-1 on the season and will next face fifth-ranked Penn State at home on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. as part of the BIG EAST/BIG Ten Challenge. Boston University is now 2-2 and faces Maine in an Atlantic 10 contest on Saturday, Sept. 16 at home.
