The Boston College field hockey team has been tabbed second in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll by the league's six coaches. Head Coach Sherren Granese's squad received 18 points overall, including one first-place vote, in the annual selection. Connecticut was chosen first with 25 points.
In addition, senior goalkeeper Jill Dedman was chosen Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. In 1999, Dedman led the nation with 240 saves and posted a .870 save percentage. The Orange, Conn. native was also the 1998 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year.
The Preseason All-BIG EAST team was chosen by the coaches. Dedman and senior tri-captain Jennifer Hall were unanimous selections to the team. Last season, Hall was a unanimous first-team All-BIG EAST choice in the midfield and Dedman was a second-team All-BIG EAST selection.
In 1999, Boston College finished 9-11 overall and in a tie for third place in the BIG EAST with a 2-3 league mark and qualified for its seventh consecutive BIG EAST tournament.
