Rob Miller, who served the last two years as head men's tennis coach at Boston University, has been named head men's tennis coach at Boston College, according to an announcement made by Boston College athletic director Gene DeFilippo.
"We're very happy to have Rob Miller as our men's tennis coach at Boston College," DeFilippo said. "He came to us highly recommended as both a person and as a coach."
Miller served the past two years as head men's tennis coach at Boston University. He led the Terriers to the 1999 America East Championship Tournament, where BU fell to Hofstra in the final.
Prior to his stint at Boston University, Miller spent two years -- 1996-97 and 1997-98 -- as the head coach at Emmanuel College. There, he directed the Saints to an outstanding 26-1 dual-match record and two Great Northeast Conference championships.
Miller served as head coach of the Brookline High School boys' tennis from 1985-96. He led the Warriors to nine Bay State Conference championships. Miller earned Bay State Conference Coach of the Year honors three times, and Division I Coach of the Year accolades in 1988.
Miller, a 1974 graduate of Beloit College in Wisconsin, served as captain of Beloit's tennis team in his senior season. He has continued to play competitively throughout the world, winning tournaments in seven different countries. He is currently ranked #1 in the Men's 45 doubles category. Miller was also a member of the USTA New England Team in the Friendship Cup and the Atlantic Coast Cup this past summer.
Miller serves on the Dunlop-Slazenger Tennis Professional Promotional Staff.
