BC Women's Tennis Falls to Dartmouth, Harvard

April 5, 2000

The women's tennis team dropped two matches with Ivy League opponents Dartmouth and Harvard on April 2 and 5, respectively. The Eagles fell to the Big Green of Dartmouth, 6-3, then also lost to Harvard, 6-3, as well.

In the Dartmouth match, junior Cynthia Tow and senior Kim Arbuckle earned the only Eagles' single victories. Tow topped Sarita Yardi in the first singles match, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3. In the sixth singles match, Arbuckle recovered after dropping the second set to take the win over Jenny Stewart, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Tow and classmate Kiren Fernando also teamed to take the only Eagle doubles win, defeating the tandem of Allison Taff and Yardi, 8-6.

Against Harvard, Tow earned the only singles victory, topping Sanza Ghazel, 6-4, 6-1, at no.1 singles. Tow and Fernando defeated Ghazal and Vedica Jain in the first doubles match, 8-5, while the Eagle duo of seniors Mercedes del Valle and Barbara Privrel beat Sarah McGinty and Fleur Broughton, 8-6.
