Women's Lacrosse Downs Fairfield, 17-6

Sophomore Lauren Miller posted four goals and two assists, while junior co-captain Emily Ryan added four tallies and a helper as the Boston College women's lacrosse team defeated Fairfield University, 17-6, in a game played at the University Field, Friday, April 7 in Fairfield, Conn. Boston College improved its record to 4-5 with the win, while Fairfield dropped to 2-6.
Junior Honor Crowther and senior Susan Pitt tallied three goals apiece to help the visiting Eagles. Jessica Jordan and Shannon Moran Each scores two goals to lead Fairfield.
Tied 2-2 just four minutes into the game, Boston College keyed four straight goals (including three in 26 seconds) to gain a 6-2 advantage. Miller notched all four of her goals in the first half and helped the Eagles maintain a 11-4 halftime edge.
Crowther opened the second half scoring two successive goals to extend the Boston College lead to nine. After a Stag goal, the Eagles posted two more goals by sophomore Chrissie DeMichele and Pitt. The game remained scoreless for nearly 11:00 until freshmen Meghan Crowley and Laura Ceikot finalized the score with goals in the closing minutes.
Sophomore goaltender Valerie Leuchs faced 16 shots, stopping 10, for the win. Boston College attempted 43 shots on Fairfield netminder Kandiss Kulp, who stopped 17 of the 34 shots on target.
Boston College will next face the University of Notre Dame on Sunday, April 9 in Alumni Stadium at noon.
