Seven BC Fencers Compete at Regional Tournament

Seven Boston College fencers competed in the NCAA Regional Tournament held at Vassar College. In foil competition, Juniors Greg Shea and Kevin McCarthy placed 17th and 21st, respectively, out of a field of 28. Senior Brian Johnson placed 21st while Sophomore Stephen Sztuk placed 10th out of a field of 26 in the sabre competition. Lastly, three junior epeeists represented BC at the Regional Tournament. Zakee Howard earend the #1 At - Large selection for tbe NCAA Tournament. It is probable that he will represent BC at the Championship Tournament held at Stanford University (March 23 - 26). Jeff Marston and Bobby Kim also competed, placing 11th and 21st, consecutively, out of a field of 27.
St John's made their presence known at the tournament by placing first and second in the sabre competition and by sweeping the top three spots in epee.
The NCAA Fencing Championships will be held at Stanford University from March 23 - 26, 2000.
