Women's Lacrosse Falters to Orangewomen, 19-6

Syracuse used seven goals by junior Katrina Hable to top Boston College, 19-6, in women's lacrosse action at Alumni Stadium today. Syracuse improved to 7-3 on the season, while the Eagles dropped to 4-8 overall.
Syracuse opened the scoring just a minute into the game on junior Karen Healy's goal, then extended the lead to 3-0 on tallies by sophomore Carrie Soults and junior Lauren Brady. Boston College notched two straight goals by junior Honor Crowther and sophomore Chrissie DeMichele, but the Orangewomen posted four more goals to hold a 7-3 advantage with 12:03 remaining in the first half.
Crowther notched her second of three goals with 10:21 left in the half and brought the score back to within three. However, Syracuse mounted a five goal assault in the half's final ten minutes to secure a 12-3 lead at the break.
Boston College scored twice to start the second half on goals by sophomore Lauren Miller and junior Emily Ryan, but the Orangewomen held the Eagles scoreless for 15:00 and posted three goals of their own in the stretch to increase their lead to 15-5.
Syracuse ended the game scoring four goals in the closing minutes to bring the final score to 19-6.
Orangewomen goalkeeper Carla Gignon made nine saves for the win. Valerie Leuchs made 15 saves in the loss for the Eagles.
Boston College will next face Cornell on Sunday, April 16, at 1 p.m. in Alumni Stadium.
