Eagles Sweep through Philadelphia, Winning Two

Senior Susan Pitt scored seven goals and junior Honor Crowther added six goals in two Boston College wins over Villanova on March 9 and St. Joseph's on March 10 in games played in Philadelphia.
In the first game, the Eagles took a 5-1 lead at the half, including three scores by Crowther. Boston College soon took a 7-2 lead on goals by junior captain Emily Ryan and Pitt, but the Wildcats stormed back to even the score at 9-9 with just 1:04 remaining.
Crowther added her fourth goal of the game with :11 left in regulation to lift the Eagles over Villanova in to even their record at 2-2 on the season.
Goaltender Valerie Leuchs made 8 saves for her first collegiate win.
Against St. Joseph's on Sunday, the Hawks opened the scoring, but Boston College scored three successive goals to take a 3-1 lead on scores by Pitt, Ryan and sophomore Lauren Miller. St. Joseph's added another goal to bring the score to within one, but Boston College answered with four straight goals to take a 7-2 halftime lead.
St. Joseph's once again mounted an attack, scoring on three consecutive shots, but Boston College countered with three goals in four minutes to seal the win, including two by Pitt. Freshman Kathleen Gallagher tallied the last goal to bring the final score to 12-6 in favor of Boston College.
Leuchs proved to be the difference in net for the Eagles, making a career-high 20 saves for the win. The Eagles improved to 3-2 with the victory.
Boston College will next face cross-town rival Boston University on Wednesday, March 22 at 3:30 p.m. in Boston.
