Men's Track Races at Harvard Invitational

The men's track team competed this weekend at the Harvard Open. The Eagles won seven events, took second in six events and third in five events at the meet.
Junior Jonathan Ordway captured his second consecutive meet in the shortest sprint, winning the 60M dash in 6.99 seconds. Last week at the Husky Open, he took the 55M in a IC4A qualifying time in his first track in meet in a year-and-a-half.
Junior Jeff Normant won the 400M race in 49.9 seconds, improving his overall winning streak to two meets.
Senior Mark Fonnemann took the mile in 4:25.6 and freshman Matt Kootman followed closely behind in second with a 4:25.7.
Freshman Brian Mahoney won his second consecutive race with his win in the 3000M in 8:57.91., while classmate Kevin Lyons took third with a 9.07.80.
The 4x400-meter relay team won its race, besting Northeastern's team by three-and-a-half seconds in 3:23.06.
In the field events, senior tri-captain Ruben Marin won his second high jump event of the season with his 6-7 leap. Freshman Gabe Verdaguer took third in the event with a 5-11.5 jump. Senior Jason Pink won his first pole vault competition of the season with his 13'4" jump. Freshman Brad Chun followed in second with the same height.
Other Eagles scorers included: senior Matt Ramsey (third-60M hurdles), sophomore Dan Fitzgerald (second-800M), freshman Vernon Mickle (third-800M), Verdaguer (second-long jump and triple jump), freshman John Kennedy (third-triple jump) and sophomore Tony Bierne (second-shot put).
The Eagles will next compete at the annual New Hampshire and Vermont meet in Durham, N.H. on Saturday, February 12.
