Six Players Sign With Women's Soccer

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Six players committed to play women's soccer at Boston College, starting in the fall of 2000. This recruiting class is projected to be the most talented in the program's history.
Joining the Eagles is defender Rebecca Brooke (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), who was an All-League, All-County and All-Section selection. She also participated in the 1998, 1999 ESP Camp and 1997 National Training Camp as well as play on the 98 Region 1 Team.
Goalkeeper Meredith Crotty (Santa Rosa, Calif.) led Ursuline Academy, 3rd in the nation (21-1-0), with 14 shutouts in 19 regular season games while allowing just seven goals for a .368 goals against average.
Forward Maureen Jenkins (The Woodlands, Texas) was a member of the national finalist club team, the Houston Challenge. She also participated in the 1997-98 Region '82 Region III team as well as the 1998 Adidas and ESP camps.
Local athlete YeJin Kim (Newton, Mass.), a 1999 NSCAA All-American, will join BC's back crew. She received Player-of-the-Year awards >from both the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald as well as earning an Eastern Mass Player-of-the-Year distinction. Kim led Newton-North High School to a state championship title in 1999.
Fellow NSCAA All-American and Parade All-American Sarah Rahko (Londonderry, N.H.) was New Hampshire's NSCAA Adidas Player of the Year. As a midfielder, Rahko is Londonderry H.S.'s all-time leading scorer with 72 goals and 42 assists. She was also a member of the '81 Region I Team and under-18 national pool.
Lauren Vanni (Fairfax, Va.) captained West Springfield H.S., which is ranked first in the nation. The all-district, all-region and all-metropolitan selection participated in the 1998 ESP camp.
Boston College finished its season at 16-7-1 after suffering a 5-0 loss to host #12 Connecticut Nov. 20 in the "Sweet 16". The Eagles defeated #7 Harvard 1-0 (Nov. 14) in Cambridge in round two of the NCAA tournament, and downed Fairfield 4-1 (Nov. 10) in the tournament's opening round at Newton, Mass.
