Men's Track Competes at the New England Championships

The Boston College men's track team earned a seventh-place showing at the New England Championships held this weekend at Boston University. The Eagles earned 35 points in the 31-team field. Four Eagles ran career-bests.
Senior Derek Holland placed in two events. He earned a second-place finish in the 5000m, running a 14:41, and he also took fifth in the 3000M with his 8:21.35. His 3000M time was his career best in the event.
Senior Marshal Armitage secured a second-place finish in the 3000M with his 8:17.98. His time was also a career best in the 3000M.
Junior Justin Burdon took fourth-place in the mile, running a 4:06.86 - a career best.
Classmate Jeff Normant ran a personal-best 1:04.89 in the 500M to earn sixth-place honors.
In the field events, senior Ruben Marin took eighth place with his leap of 6'7". Freshman Brad Chun jumped to a seventh-place finish with his 14'3.25" attempt.
Two relay teams also scored. The 4x800M team comprised of sophomore Mike McKenzie, Burdon, freshman Vernon Mickle and junior Dan Fitzgerald took second place. The 4x400M team had a seventh-place showing.
The Eagles will next compete in the ICAAAA Championships hosted by Harvard University on March 4 and 5. Athletes who have posted qualifying marks and times will be eligible to compete
