CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College defeated Boston University 7-0 in the Beanpot Tournament consolation round Tuesday (Feb. 15) then handed Bowdoin College a 5-2 loss the next day in Brunswick. With the win over the Black Bears, BC improved to 6-19-1 overall.
Both Jane Jorge (Allston, Mass.) and Missy Barsz (Walkertown, N.C.) notched a pair of goals against BU while Barsz posted one assist. Lisa Molvar (Lexington, Mass.) and Nicole Fortier (Portsmouth, R.I.) also registered tallies for the Eagles. Defensewoman Jessica Griffin (Hingham, Mass.) posted her first goal at BC. Amber Bobin (Evanston, Ill.) and Gen Richardson (Monroe, Conn.) each fed two goals. Thia Connolly (Dedham, Mass.), Heather Lane (Clinton, N.Y.), Jen Buckley (Greenwich, Conn.) and Alex Greene (Albany, N.Y.), who registered her first collegiate points, added an assist.
BC took a 5-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Heather Cohen (Concord, Mass.) earned the shutout in goal, earning 10 saves.
Lisa Molvar scored a power-play goal in the third to break open a 3-2 game and allow the Eagles to take a 5-2 victory over Bowdoin Wednesday evening. With another man advantage, Gena Nolin (Chichester, N.H.) deposited the insurance goal at 11:47 in the third.
Connolly, Amber Bobin and Gen Richardson accounted for the rest of BC scoring. Connolly and Bobin also added assists while both Fortier and Jorge added a pair of helpers each. Barsz and Michelle Snyder (Palatine, Ill.) also contributed assists.
Christy Nentwig (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Sharon VanTuyl (Portage, Mich.) combined for 23 saves in net.
