
Women's Ice Hockey Falls To UNH Then Ties Maine

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College split its games this weekend, falling 9-1 to host New Hampshire Saturday (Feb. 19) then skating to a 2-2 tie at Maine Sunday (Feb. 20). BC is now 6-20-2 overall and 1-19-2 in the ECAC.
Lisa Molvar (Lexington, Mass.) used a power-play goal at 5:57 to knot the Maine game at one in the first period. Amber Bobin (Evanston, Ill.) and Jen Buckley (Greenwich, Conn.) assisted that goal. Molvar struck again, scoring the second equalizer at 12:31 in the second period. Jen Buckley earned her second assist of the night. Colleen Baude and Andrea Keller each tallied a goal for the host Black Bears.
Christy Nentwig (Chesterfield, Mo.) earned 47 saves in a complete game between the posts for BC. Maine outshot BC 49-16. After Keller's goal at 10:37 in the first, the Eagles held Maine scoreless for 54:23.
Buckley scored at 6:48 in the first period to even the score at one against UNH Saturday. Less than five minutes later, Melissa McKenzie stroked the eventual game-winner. The Wildcats went on to score one more goal in the first, two in the second and sealed the 9-1 victory with four goals in the final period.
Sharon VanTuyl (Portage, Mich.) recorded the loss in net for the Eagles, earning 45 saves in the process. BC was outshot 54-18.
The Eagles take this weekend off before hosting Providence and Northeastern, March 3rd and 5th, respectively. The BC/Friar game will begin at 7 p.m.
