
Women's Ice Hockey Falls To No. 1 Brown

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College fell 11-0 to the country's top-ranked squad Brown Sunday in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles, who was defeated by to the nation's second-ranked team, Harvard, the day before fell to 5-19-1 overall and 1-18-1 in the ECAC conference. The Bears improved to 16-2-3 and 15-1-3 in the ECAC.
Thirteen different Bears contributed to Brown's scoring led by three players with two goals each. Courtney Johnson, Ali Kenney, and Patricia Long each posted two goals. Johnson also added two assists while Kenney fed one goal.
Tamra Jones scored BU's second goal of the afternoon in addition to feeding four other Brown scores. Both Tara Mounsey and Kathleen Kauth contributed a goal and two assists. Meredith Ostrander and Jenny Rice accounted for Brown's other two scores.
Christina Sorbara and Melissa Rennison posted three and two assists, respectively. Jordan Jiskra also added two assists. Kim Insalaco Alison Milbury each added an assist.
Brown scored four goals in each of the last two periods. The Bears outshot BC 41-14. including 18-1 in the final 20 minutes. Ali Brewer and Pam Dreyer combined for the shutout.
BC's Sharon VanTuyl (Portage, Mich.) and Heather Cohen (Concord, Mass.) totaled 30 saves on the day.
The Eagles face Boston University in the consolation round of the 22nd Annual Beanpot Tournament Tuesday (Feb. 15) at Harvard. Game time is 5 p.m.
