ECAC Women's Hockey Announces Split

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-The ECAC Women's Ice Hockey League announced Dec. 7, 2000 that the University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac College will extend membership into the league starting with the 2001-02 season. Moving from their current position in the ECAC Division III league, Colgate will move to the Division I rank also starting in the 2001-02 season.
In May, the current Division I voted to split the ECAC Women's Hockey League into two separate leagues. Joining Boston College in their half of the league will be Maine, New Hampshire, Niagara, Northeastern, Providence and newcomers Connecticut and Quinnipiac. The other half of the division will consist of Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, St. Lawrence and Yale.
