Powell Adds Another National Honor

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Defender Sarah Powell was named a second team All-American by collegesoccer.com, adding another national to her resume. Earlier this season she was named a second team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The senior back was the 2000 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the both the 1999 and 2000 All-BIG EAST first teams. She was a NSCAA first team Northeast Regional All-American in both 1999 and 2000.
The native of Natick, Mass anchored a defense that recorded 10 shutouts, including four in league divisional league play and only allowed one goal in 94 shots in Northeast Division games. The defense allowed .99 goals per game and only 10.6 shots per game.
Powell was selected in th seventh round of the Women's United Soccer Association draft by the Boston Breakers.
The Boston College women's soccer team finished the season with a 14-7 record after advancing to the semifinals of the BIG EAST tournament.
