Women's Basketball Tops Holy Cross, 95-57

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Janelle McManus scored 17 points and Becky Gottstein added 15 as No. 19 Boston College defeated Holy Cross 95-57 Wednesday night.
Amber Jacobs and Danielle O'Banion added 11 points for Boston College (3-1), which clinched the victory with a 17-2 run midway through the game.
Jeanette Paukert scored 13 points for Holy Cross (1-4). There were seven ties and seven lead changes in the first half before BC took the lead for good 28-25 on a 3-point field goal by McManus.
Paukert then was called for her third personal foul and BC quickly took advantage with its balanced scoring and tight defense.
Alicia Shields scored consecutive 3-point field goals, adding a free throw to the second one as Boston College outscored Holy Cross 9-2 for a 44-33 halftime lead.
With Rachel Byars, Gottstein and Jacobs continuing the pressure, Boston College stretched its lead to 54-33 in the second half while holding Holy Cross scoreless for a period of 6:21.
Katie O'Keefe scored five points for Holy Cross, reducing the margin to 60-43 with 12:29 left, before Holy Cross went on a 15-6 run to put the game out of reach.
