Women's Ice Hockey Falls To St. Lawrence, 6-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.--St. Lawrence scored 13 goals to Boston College's one, to defeat the Eagles in tonight's women's ice hockey game, in Kelley Rink, on the Chestnut Hill Campus. Leading the Saints was Shannon Smith with two goals.
Opening the scoring just three second into the game, Saint Lawrence's Gina Kingsbury's goal was assisted by Amy Hewitt and Caroling Trudeau, in the first period. In the second period, the Saints' second and game winning goal was collected by Trudeau at the 10:11 mark. With the goal, Trudeau notched her 65th career goal, tying the St. Lawrence school record set back in 1987 by Andrea Blakeley. Smith tallied two goals for St. Lawrence at 19:59 in the second period and 17:30 in the third.
Boston College's lone goal of the game came at the 7:04 mark, in the third period, by leading Boston College scorer, junior Kelly McManus, who collected her sixth goal of the season. Collecting the assist for the Eagles were senior captain Jen Buckley and freshman Alaina Clark.
Junior Amy Coletta, playing the first two periods, finished the contest with 23 saves for the Eagles. In her first appearance of the season, junior Sharon Van Tuyl picked-up eight saves in the third period. St. Lawrence's two goalies collected 7 combined. Playing the first two periods for the Saints was Rachel Barrie collected 4 saves and Caryn Ungewitter saved six in the third period.
The Eagles will return to action when they play Cornell at home in Kelley Rink, in their second contest of the weekend, on Sunday, November 26, at 2:00 p.m.
