Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Princeton, 4-1

Melissa Deland's goal at 1:25 of the first period got the momentum going early for the Princeton women's hockey team against Boston College Sunday afternoon at Baker Rink. The end result was a 4-1 victory over the Eagles and the first win of the season for the Tigers. BC dropped to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in the ECAC with the loss
An unassisted goal at 8:57 by Laura Hays gave Princeton a 2-0 advantage to end the first period. The Tigers came out for the second period and struck early again, this time at 1:39 on a goal by Andrea Kilbourne assisted by Abbey Fox and Nikola Holmes.
The Princeton defense looked for a shutout but a penalty allowed Boston College to get on the board at 6:42 in the third period on a power-play goal by Renee Taylor assisted by Missy Barsz and Jaclyn Kryzak. Holmes in turn scored for Princeton on the power play assisted by Fox and Gretchen Anderson at 12:06 to give Princeton its first victory of the season, 4-1.
The Eagles next game will be Saturday when they face-off against Brown at 2 p.m. in Kelley Rink. Admission to this and all women's ice hockey games is free.
