For the second time in the 2000 season, junior forward/back Amelie Wulff has been named BIG EAST Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week for field hockey. She shares the honor with Breanne Wojnarowicz of Providence College. In two games this week, Wulff netted two goals, including a game-winning penalty stroke against Providence College.
On Wednesday, Sept. 27, Wulff scored both of her goals - and both Eagles scores - to lead Boston College over the Friars, 2-1, at Alumni Stadium. Her first goal gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead on a penalty corner. She put a blinding shot past the Providence keeper after teammate Jen Hall stopped Morgan Brady's push. After Providence tied the game, the Eagles were awarded a penalty stroke. Head coach Sherren Granese selected Wulff to take the shot (her third of the season), which she netted to hand the Eagles their first victory of the season in league play.
The Duesseldorf, Germany native leads the team in scoring with 16 points (even goals, two assists) and has taken 52 shots on net this season.
Overall, Boston College now stands at 7-4 (1-1 BIG EAST) and will next face the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
