Boston College goaltender Scott Clemmensen earned HOCKEY EAST defensive player of the week honors for the week ending Oct. 15. In the championship game against 13th-ranked Nebraska-Omaha, Clemmensen made 36 saves as the Eagles took the 5-1 win and the Omaha Cup, presented to the champions of the inaugural tournament.
In two games this season the Urbandale, Iowa native has a .968 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average and was the winning goaltender in both games. Last season Clemmensen captured HOCKEY EAST's Heaton Goaltending Award for the lowest goals against average in league play (1.98).
Also named to the all-tournament team from Boston College was sophomore forward Krys Kolanos (2 goals, 2 assists), senior forward Mike Lephart (2 goals) and senior defenseman Bobby Allen (2 assists).
Also recognized on the HOCKEY EAST honor roll were freshman Ben Eaves, who registered three assists against Notre Dame in his first collegiate action, and Kolanos, whose four points ties him with senior captain Brian Gionta for the team lead.
The Eagles (2-0-0) next travel to Denver, Colo. for two games against the Denver University Pioneers. Game time on Friday night is 9:30 p.m. eastern.
