Goalkeeper Jill Dedman made 14 saves while junior Angela Hutchins scored the game's only goal with 14:52 left in the first half to give 13th-ranked Boston College a 1-0 road victory over Holy Cross. Hutchins' goal, resulting off a broken corner attempt, was her second of the season.
Holy Cross out-shot the Eagles, 20-10, including a 14-3 second-half margin, but Dedman was up to the task and posted her fifth shutout of the season. Boston College held the advantage in corners, 10-9. Crusaders keeper Jennifer Corsilli made three saves in the loss for Holy Cross.
Boston College, now 9-5 overall and 1-2 in BIG EAST play, next faces non-conference, cross-town rival Harvard on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at Alumni Stadium. With the win, the Eagles equaled their 1999-season win total of nine, and have four games remaining in the 2000 schedule. Holy Cross dipped to 10-3 overall with the loss.
