Women's Soccer Suffers First Loss of Season

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - - The Boston College (1-1) women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 1-0 to host University of Hartford in overtime Sunday.
Sandra Kayulu (Winchester, Mass.) scored the game's lone goal in the 102nd minute, accepting a cross from midfielder Signe Andersen (Vallensback, Denmark) at the endline.
The Eagles withstood a strong Hawk attack, stymieing 18 shots before the final decisive stroke. They were outshot 19-5 for the game and 4-1 in the final period. BC goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) collected four saves while her Hartford counterpart, Ingrid Sternhoff (Oslo, Norway), had two in her second shutout effort of the season.
Boston College faces Dartmouth at 1 p.m. Sunday Sept. 12 in Hanover, N.H. while the Hawks kick off their America East schedule, challenging Hofstra at 3 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 8 in Long Island.
