CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's soccer captain Mary Guarino (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) earned BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors (Sept. 13-19) for the second consecutive week in a poll released by the conference Sept. 20. Jen Carlson of Connecticut was also distinguished with the award.
In addition to Guarino's conference accolades a week ago, she was also recognized nationally, earning a spot on the Soccer America Team of the Week in a poll released Sept. 14. The next day, Guarino posted her first collegiate hat trick, notching three goals in BC's 5-0 shutout of Central Connecticut State University.
Over the weekend, Guarino helped her team-leading point production (15) with two assists against the NSCAA's 13th-ranked squad in James Madison and a goal versus #20 Richmond. Guarino's two assists helped #23 BC (NSCAA) to a 4-1 win over James Madison. But her goal against the Spiders was not enough as the Eagles fell 4-2. Guarino now has six goals and three assists to date which is currently tied for third in the BIG EAST conference.
In polls released September 20, Boston College (4-2) was ranked 13th in Soccer America, #18 in NSCAA and #21 in Soccer Buzz. The Eagles host Northeastern Wednesday Sept. 22 at 3 p.m.
