CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College senior forward Mary Guarino (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) earned BIG EAST Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors for Sept. 6-12.
Guarino added the decisive goal and an assist in the Eagles' 2-1 victory over 10th-ranked (Soccer America poll) Dartmouth on Sunday, Sept. 12. She has accumulated two goals and one assist to date while posting the game-winning scores in BC?s wins over Fairfield (2-0) and Dartmouth.
Sunday was a momentous day for both teams. The BC win snapped the Big Green's nine-game home win streak, and the last time BC defeated a ranked opponent was Sept. 16, 1994 when the Eagles upset Florida International 1-0 in the Florida Atlantic Tournament. More recently, BC tied Harvard, which was ranked 13th nationally in 1997, at 1-1.
Eagles (2-1) host Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday, Sept. 15 (3 p.m.). The match will mark the team?s debut on the new Newton Campus Soccer Field.
