CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Propelled by two goals and an assist from sophomore forward Amelie Wulff (Dusseldorf, Germany), the Boston College field hockey team raised its record to 3-1 with a 4-1 victory over Holy Cross. The game, originally scheduled for last night but postponed due to heavy rain in the area, was played at Alumni Stadium.
Wulff tallied her first goal 19:22 into the contest on a feed from Gina Dinan (Skowhegan, ME). Less than four minutes later, the spirited and fiery Wulff was at it again, this time taking a feed from junior Jennifer Hall (Brewster, NY) to give Boston College a 2-0 lead.
The visiting Crusaders would pull within one on a goal by Amy Livigne a little less than five minutes following the halftime break.
The Eagles scored two more times to close the game with Hall taking a feed from Wulff and freshmen Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.) knocking home a pass from fellow first-year player Elizabeth Reh (St. Louis, MO).
Senior goaltender Jill Dedman (Amity, Conn.), who entered the game having allowed just a pair of goals on the season, raised her record to 3-1-0 while personally putting a stop to six Holy Cross shots.
The Eagles will venture down Commonwealth Avenue for a showdown with rival Boston University, in a 7 p.m. game to be played Wednesday, Sept. 15.
