Boston College sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY) made the play of the game when she stoned Seton Hall's Courtney Wood on a one-on-one with 50 seconds remaining in the second overtime. The save preserved the scoreless tie at Bowditch Field in Framingham, Mass.
The Eagles possessed the ball for most of the game and outshot the Pirates 25-12, including 5-3 in overtime.
Schaeffer made three saves in 120 minutes to record her second shutout of the season, the ninth of her career. Seton Hall's Stacey Nagle made nine saves.
Boston College moves to 1-2-1, 0-1-1 in the BIG EAST, while Seton Hall emerges 3-0-1, 1-0-1 in the BIG EAST. The next BC game is against Central Connecticut on Tuesday, September 13 at 3:30 p.m. in New Britain, Conn.
The Eagles will return home on Friday, September 18 at 3 p.m., when they host BIG EAST rival Syaracuse at Charles River United Field in Hopkinton, Mass.
