CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Connecticut senior Margaret Tietjen scored the game's lone goal in the ninth minute to lead the fifth-ranked Huskies to a BIG EAST victory over Boston College today at Bowditch Field in Framingham, Mass.
Tietjen's shot found the back of the net after a scramble in front of Eagles' sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY).
The Huskies outshot Boston College 13-5, despite most of the game being played in the midfield.
Schaeffer registered seven saves. Connecticut's freshman Anne-Elisabeth Eskerud recorded three saves.
The loss drops Boston College to 0-1, while Connecticut improved to 1-0. The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, September 7 at 3 p.m. when they host the Arizona St. Sun Devils at Bowditch Field.
