Boston College junior Mary Guarino (Plantation, FL) scored the game-winning goal at 2:44 to lead the Eagles over BIG EAST rival Syracuse 1-0 at Shea Field.
Guarino headed a perfect 18-yard cross from senior Kiera McKeon (Broadview Heights, OH) over the head of Syracuses goalie. The goal was Guarinos third of the season.
Sophomore Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, NY) made two saves to record her second consecutive shutout, third of the season. Syracuses Riley Wogamon made three saves for the Orangewomen.
Boston College improves to 3-2-1, 1-1-1 in the BIG EAST, while Syracuse falls to 3-2-1, 1-1-1 in the BIG EAST. The Eagles will return to action on Sunday, September 20 at noon when they host BIG EAST rival St. Johns at Natick High School.
