Boston College freshman Morgan Page (Westerly, R.I.) scored two goals and added one assist to lead the Eagles to a 4-0 BIG EAST victory over Providence College in Providence, R.I.
Page opened the games scoring in the 16th minute when she headed a cross from junior Janice Collein (Garden City, N.J.) into the net. Page scored her second goal of the half six minutes later when she blasted a shot from 15 feet past the Friars goalkeeper. It was Pages eighth and ninth goals of the season. Junior Mary Guarino (Plantation, Fla.) scored her fifth goal of the season when she placed a shot in the upper right corner of the goal. Page notched her fifth point of the game with an assist on Guarinos tally.
Junior Kristine Klagges (Huntington, N.Y.) capped the games scoring in the 77th minute with a shot that careened off the left post into the back of the net. It was Klagges first goal of her collegiate career.
BCs sophomore Courtney Schaeffer (South Huntington, N.Y.) made five saves to record her fifth shutout of the season and her fourth shutout in BIG EAST matches. Providences Shayna Ross made six saves.
Boston College improves to 5-3-1 with the victory, 3-1-1 in the BIG EAST, while Providence falls to 1-7 overall, 1-4 in the BIG EAST. The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, September 29 at 3:30 p.m. when they host Northeastern at Bowditch Field.
